WV Autumn Festival Announces Changes

Due to the pageant world taking so many negative hits during the past few years, we have decided to make some changes we hope will enforce a more positive attitude toward pageantry and while it is only natural to go on the offensive when being accused, bashed, insulted, slandered, trashed or becoming the victim of false gossip which changes each time it passes from one to another in the end creating total negativity we refuse to engage in it regardless if what is said, or who it is said about. We have family members, friends, fellow directors, judges, contestants, parents and volunteers we ALL care about but defending anything only adds fuel to the fire and results in more negativity as well as hurt feelings and broken friendships and therefore, we plan to focus on the positive. With that said, in the future our TEEN and QUEEN pageants will not be judged on a point system any longer. We ill implement and use the circle system as used at the WVAFF pageants each year. EVERY contestant will have a comment sheet and receive a copy so the judges will be using INK PENS and a TRIPLICATE sheet to write the comments on. Score sheets will not be handed out as there will no points to discuss. The judges will circle a preset number of contestants based on notes in each category and the total number of circles will create their score. ALL judges will have scrap paper for note taking to determine who they wish to circle and because of this we will have a BEFORE and AFTER lineup in each category. The total number of circles a judge may make will depend

on how many contestants we end up with but never more than fifteen circles. To circle fifteen, we would need at least thirty five contestants and that is unlikely. However, we end up with more then twenty we will circle a ten in each category and then go to a TOP Five from which the TOP THREE will be selected. We hope this helps in assuring there is fair play and no bonus points. ALL JUDGING CRITERIA will be posted on the website and we will email it to you if requested. The judges will have an exact copy of the criteria sheet you receive and this will explain what we are looking for, what we are NOT looking for, what we expect them to cut for and what we expect of the winner so they can have their interview geared to find exactly what we want in a queen and the contestant knows in advance what we are looking for. In the future, ALL tabulators will remain at the table with the judges and NOBODY will be permitted to sit directly behind the judges as we will block a space of at least five feet and therefore until judging is complete NOBODY but the STAFF photographer can stand in that space even for photos. You will have to take them from an angle or position that places you a minimum of five feet from the judges in any direction. We hope these changes will help improve some things.

If a QUEEN contestant wins another WVAFF title before ours we WILL refund the amount she has paid in full. The above amounts are for entries received on or before September 5th. Entries received after will need to pay a twenty dollar late fee because of the program delay and the final deadline to be in the program will be September 15th. Thanks so much!!!
