Welcome To The NEW WV Autumn Festival Site
Our History
The WV Autumn Festival has a long history. We have been around since 1995 and we started with nothing but a dream and a fifty dollar act. Renowned folk artist-musician Mike Morningstar had mercy upon us and played on a rainy afternoon for a mere fifty dollars.
The late great champion fiddler, Mr. Melvin Wine played at no cost as did his son Grafton and other family members joined on for some great gospel singing.
The festival began with Sue Loyd and Suzanne Wine, and they led their family members into the event (The Loyds included Fred, Fred II, Stacy, Joshua and new members Cordell and Quinten and The Wine Family included Mark, Brittany and Stephanie who will always be loved a spart of the WV Autumn Family even thoguh they are no longer a part of our event).
We built a stage and had power put into it after receiving permission from the Braxton County Board of Education and at that time current school prinicpal, Charles Mike McCoy. Many people besides family contributed to that stage and they include Stanley Wine, Bob Sprouse, Jane Sprouse, Jason and Josh, Darrell Brown of Outpost Construction, Sherri Brown, Kenny Graham and Barbara Anson. Other people helping with other events through the years were Shirley Teter, Daniel Teter, Kenny Teter, James Teter, Susie Allen, Robby and Edie Helmick, Darrel Wayne Ramsey, Earl and Betty Cayton, Sandy and R.J. Heater,Beverly Berlo and sons and many others too numerous to mention.
CURRENT OFFICERS
Our current and newest group of officers whom we hope to keep around for a long time include President Fred Loyd, Vice-President Joshua Loyd, Secretary Sue Loyd and Leah Nicholson, Treasurers Sue Loyd and Leah Nicholson, Contact person Eric Nicholson and Nihja Hardway, and Pageant Director Sue Loyd with co-directors Leah Nicholson and Nihja Hardway and our childrens pageant director is Marti Persinger.
